The Expanded Universe has long been a point of contention between its validity to the Star Wars canon. From Boba Fett's survival in the Sarlaac Pit to one of Han and Leia's twins becoming drunk with power, the extra content found in the myriad of Star Wars novels, comics and videogames is undeniably popular. Now, Sideshow Collectibles has gotten into the game with their new Mythos line of high-end statues based on conceptual ideas that fit "between the scenes" of everyone's favorite Wookie-filled movie franchise: Star Wars! With their announcement of the Ben Kenobi Star Wars: Mythos statue, not only are they bringing "Old Ben" to fans as he makes his way across the deserts of Tatooine on his way to hermit-hood, but he even has interchangeable heads with the look of Sir Alec Guiness AND Ewan McGregor!
Read on for more photos, info on the statue, plus insight from the artists involved about their inspiration for the look of Obi-Wan! After the prequel trilogy we know Obi-Wan to have led a hermit’s life on Tatooine. During this period our assumption is that his time wasn’t entirely spent living in a lonely hut, but instead as a desert nomad, exercising mental strength and physical fortitude. There is a scene in Lawrence of Arabia that inspired us, where Lawrence puts on his Arab garb for the first time and the wind whips it around. The adornments and survival gear on Kenobi’s backpack almost serve as a time capsule to speak the story of his travels; among his collection are Tusken Raider gaffi sticks that suggest maybe he has had an ongoing feud with the desert tribes, a mantle of armor that he wore during the Clone Wars, and of course, Anakin’s lightsaber. To celebrate both actor portrayals we’ve devised two portrait options, with likenesses of Ewan McGregor as well as a younger Sir Alec Guinness.

We saw this statue during the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con International, and we gotta say that these pictures don't truly do it justice.
